True definition of the taser gun: A Taser is an electroshock weapon that uses electrical current to disrupt voluntary control of muscles. I have to admit, I am probably never going to be in the situation where I will be tased (if that is a word). My lifestyle does not introduce the element of taser guns so when I had an opportunity to shoot an actual police taser gun, I jumped.
As we entered the holding warehouse space in the back of the police station where we would be able to shoot the taser, my heartbeat elevated. I stood and listened to the safety precautions as my heart increased yet again. The excitement and thrill to actually shoot something that is not available to the general public was exhilarating. As the police officer asked, "Who is first?" The lady in front of me jumped forward and off she went. I figured I better go soon or I will pass out. So as she returned back to the line of students, she handing me the safety goggles. I carefully placed the plastic goggles over my eyes and waited for the officer to give me the head nod. Approaching the shooting location, I maneuvered over the water running across the cement floor. Hey, I knew that water and electricity does not match and I was not going to take a chance.
I held the yellow taser in my right hand and could not figure what to do with the left hand. The officer had me release the safety and point the red laser on the target. Expecting to feel the recoil of a traditional handgun, I held the gun tightly. I aimed low and shot. The wire line zipped across the room hitting the target successfully creating the circuit of electricity. The five seconds of current completed and I was done. With no recoil and damage done.
These experiences make you stop to think about many things. I have to admit the quick and rational thinking of a police officer is impressive. The human body instincts are so animalistic and they reduce the amount of time to respond with the priority of public safety. Pretty sweet.
