SO everyone has one... that something special that they over loved as a child. I have Jody. My husband has Sam. My son had Pinny. I use the word - HAD. We chose to not take his beloved Pinny with us on spring break. We have not seen Pinny since we left the house.
Last week, I got a frantic phone call from my son, "Mom, you know the cleaning ladies?". "Yes." "They have a Pinny just like me!" My heart sang. I have searched high and low for his Pinny without results. Now I know why. The cleaning ladies picked up Pinny and thought he would be a great cleaning rag. I know Pinny is a great cleaning rag, Pinny has cleaned up many messes that my son produced. "He" has been a staple in his life in the form of many roles - from tear collector, pirate cape, juice rag, and a soothing ball of love.
So what is a Mom to do? But call her husband up immediately and tell him to go grab Pinny immediately, throw him in the washing machine and return Pinny to his rightful owner - my son! I waited a resounding five minutes and called back to ask if Pinny was back to fairy tale perfect again in the arms of my son to only hear, NO. My heart sunk. "No. Why not?" My husband then informed me the yes while it is Pinny, it is now only 1/6 of Pinny. My heart ripped into pieces at the realization that Pinny was now Pinnies!
The hard part is this, I want to call and get all of the Pinnies back, sew them back together and return Pinny to his rightful owner. It's been a week and I can't let it go. I guess I have a phone call to make tomorrow.
