Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in motherhood, health, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Feels Different

I always love this time of year, I typically start reading a daily book (I have not made it all year long yet), I set a goal or two, and sometimes change one habit into a new habit.  It always feels good this time of year.  This year is different.  This year, I just want to be comfortable in myself.  That starts with my home.  I have lived in this home for 13 years and have always made design & decorating decisions based on the 'new owner'.  I always thought to myself, "Can we sell this house if I decorate this way?"

Well guess what, we are not moving for a long time.  It's time to decorate in my quirky style.  It's time.  And guess what, if the owner after me does not like my choices, they can change it.  Shocking realization!  So here is what I am up to.  One room a month for a change to make it my home on no money.  What?!?! No money?  Yes, the reason I am doing that is because I have a basement full of beautiful items in boxes waiting to find their rightful place in my home. I have boxes that have been packed for 13 years.  If at the end of the year, I do not use what is in the basement, it's time to move the items on to someone else to love.   I have a lamp in the basement, I love.  I ask, why is it in the basement?  It's time to love it.

January is downstairs basement redo.  Emily disclaimer, once I start, I want to be done.  I am not an inspiration board creator because I don't know how to make a digital inspiration board.  I hope to have the room done quickly and completely as it is hard for me to live in a messy state.

My current main floor bathroom:

I would like to go in this direction:

On your mark, set go!

I have walked around the house and realized I do not have the art that I desire for the room.  That means I need to make it because I'm not buying it.  I did run out an purchase paint for the room as I am not using old nasty paint from the previous painting projects.  I spent $73.00 on two cans of one-coat paint from Home Depot.  I do have to say, my husband saw the room color and said, "wow, I thought you were painting the walls white, I hope the next owner wants a black bathroom as that color will never come out of the wall."  I hope so too!

My husband will be my biggest obstacle to stay money free as he has said three times, just go buy a new light, buy what you need so we do not have to do this again.  I made a pack that I will shop from my basement! I will.

Results after day one:

And we are off!

Need a Book to Read?
