St. Joseph Wall of Hope
Define Hope - a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen or/and a feeling of trust. As parents of children with the non-traditional birth, we want to feel hope. When I heard the news that the babies I was carrying were 'joined somewhere in the lower region' - my heart stopped. I cried. I 'flew' away. The fight or flight in me left before I even had a chance to decide. My heart ached to understand the why and broke at the possibility of not having the dream of twins.
The words from a doctor shaped my inner ability to move forward - I asked him, what was the quality of their life going to look like? He answered, it is up to you and Jim. Once I heard those words, my 'flight' transformed into 'fight'. And boy did we fight for life. We fought for quality of life. We fought for hope of easy lives. We fought for these girls. We won hope.
We have now been placed in the St. Joseph Wall of Hope for all parents in the tornado of having a baby or babies in the NICU. All I can say now, it's worth the fight for hope. May God bless you all at the Merry season to celebrate the birth of our savior.
