Childhood flowers
Maybe it’s just me, but flowers flood my heart with childhood memories. These beautiful nasturtium flowers remind me of my childhood home in Kula. Our backyard overlooked the beautiful island hills which flowed to the sea. The grass filled fields contained an occasional cow chewing on grass below where I played. I would grab this flower, pinch off the end and suck out the sweet nectar. It’s like being a bee, I was like a bee.
Nasturtiums also have amazing circular leaves that when water droplets land on the leaf they create ‘mercury’ like cylindrical water balls. You can roll the water droplets and tap the water off with the flick of your finger.
