Sometimes I think the good Lord can be screaming at me and I may not get the message. However, lately, I have been listening. A touchback our church did a series about meeting people where you live. They created a bingo looking card with the center block having the shape of a house and empty boxes surrounding it. They asked if you could name everyone who lives around you. I sure could give you names but that is where it typically stopped. I could name a few odds and ends about them but not much after that which really makes me sad. Sad that I live in such close proximity of these people and truly have not developed true friendships. So I contemplated whether to throw a party to get to know them more. But I didn't. I did make excuses and didn't get it done.
My mental hang up is my house - I want it to look like a model home. I do. I just plain ole' do. I want no paper, no clutter, no dog dirt, no kids mess, no piles of dirty socks, and so on and so on. I want the model home. I have really comes to grips that I will not have a model home anytime soon because I have a 'non-model' home lifestyle. My living room has a full size hockey net, I have a television the size of a refrigerator with xbox attached and I have a busy family.
I came across a new blog today and one of her many blog posts that jumped at me was her Let's Party Like Girls Night and I thought again that is time to let my reservations about hosting a party go away. So my nervous mind thinks, I will do the party in late April. But why wait? I could actually start to list a million reasons why waiting seems great and perfect but I will not.
I am just going to set a March date and jump. And at this point why not? So it is time to have a Girls Night Party. It's time to make new friends and rediscover my current friendships that I can't seem to carve out enough time to enjoy.
