My heart swells
My heart swells when I watch my son play hockey. I am not sure if my competitive spirit is loving the sport or watching my little marshmallow man play. There are days that he looks truly like a real goalie which just impresses me. My daughters have never enjoyed a sport so this is my first child who has taken to a sport. We have watched him develop into a goalie and the his heart of gold flourishes with his team. Here are a few lessons that I learned from being a goalie:
1. The team feeds off the heartbeat of the goalie. When the goalie makes a great save, the team gets boost of energy.
2. The goalie position is the most 'padded, whacked and bumped' position on the team.
3. The goalie can make or break a game for the entire team.
4. The goalie is the most social position on the team.
When I think about the goalie position it reminds me of the position of the Mom in the family. Replace the word "team" with family and "goalie" with Mom.
