Fed & Fit Project
Walking through the library while waiting on my Lexi, I saw this book (
Fed & Fit by Cassy Joy Garcia, NC
). I love the cover and thought why not! I seriously chose a book because of it's cover - I saw: Fun, short time frame and I get 'fed'. I dug in, I'm intrigued and I'm excited. The graphics and visual spoke my language resulting my commitment to participating.
From the book -
A person that is Fed & Fit:
1. is living healthily and happily in her own skin.
2. is well nourished and active, with abundant energy.
3. has broken free from dogmatic dietary chains and instead lives a consistently healthy lifestyle centered around a positive outlook, adequate rest and hydration, regular nourishment, and fun physical fitness activities.
4. after arriving at her own "perfect You Plan", observes any indulgences as a part of life, not as a county to healthy efforts.
Few things I have done to get rolling -
- Read and started to swallow the book
- download the app (I think this will help me shop for food)
- subscribe to the online community and confirm my email on their website to stay connected
- downloaded the 'eating out' ebook, printed the Food & Fitness journal (I love these...oh boy does this speak to me) and 'Like" the Facebook page (not that I will see anything on FB as I'm inconsistent on FB).
- I asked others to be in my community to keep me accountable
So I have been working on reading and understanding the four pillars of health.
Pillar #1 - Mindset
Attitude
We were to write a list on what we spend our time doing. Jumping into the list was interesting to see what consumes my life - eye opening. I have known for years that I have way to much on my plate and this really visually shown to me. Since my mother died, I have really been trying to prioritize my life activities so this is good aligned with my goals. I must set the intention to exchange my time around my priorities/obligations/time spent. Actions must be aligned with priorities.
Goals
This is super easy as this past year has been rough health wise for me so I must get into healthy state. I have a handful of ongoing health issues and I must stay healthy. I want to see my grandchildren, I want to enjoy retirement life on the water, I want to travel - health is key for me.
Community
I have found my ambitious, motivated, determine peeps = we become unstoppable. Love!
Motivation
I am headed to MaxMuscle to do an InBody 230 - it gives me a great mark of where I am currently (I did it last fall so I am curious if anything has changed). - This fuels the science geek in me. I will take a swimsuit photo because I want to see the change.
Fear of failure, fear of success, belief and commitment
- great check in read in book.
So I thought it was time to try a simple recipe (Garam Masala Beef & Butternut Stew) today ...
Lesson learned - cutting raw squash is harder than it looks, finding garam masala spice in the cabinet was hard and it actually tasted good. Now to see if the family likes it.
